Congratulations Conlaith!
Balham Leisure Centre's Swimmer of the year
After a challenging 2021 we wanted to round the year off with some good news stories. We asked all of our Swimming Teachers to nominate those distinctive, very special swimmers who deserved a bit of recognition.
They were asked to identify swimmers on our lesson programmes (children and adults) who have displayed positive attitudes, unyielding determination or, have put in efforts over and above their peers. They may have overcome personal adversity or achieved something unexpected or challenging.
Conlaith Shayeghi - Balham Leisure Centre's Swimmer of the Year 2021
Nominated by his teacher Ania Oprawska

"Conlaith has been coming to Saturday morning lessons for the last 10 years! I have taught him since he was 4 years old and have helped him achieve all his swimming milestones - Stage by Stage.
He has developed into a good and strong all round swimmer. Conlaith doesn't say much and doesn't court attention when he comes to the pool; he stands out because he is the fastest swimmer in his group. I suspect he doesn't realise just how good he is, so I'd like him to be awarded Swimmer of the Year, in recognition of his consistency and continuous improvement. I think he has certainly earned it after all these years!
