Congratulations Lucas!

After a challenging 2021 we wanted to round the year off with some good news stories.  We asked all of our Swimming Teachers to nominate those distinctive, very special swimmers who deserved a bit of recognition.

They were asked to identify swimmers on our lesson programmes (children and adults) who have displayed positive attitudes, unyielding determination or, have put in efforts over and above their peers.  They may have overcome personal adversity or achieved something unexpected or challenging. 

Lucas Pitcher - Deben Leisure Centre's Swimmer of the Year 2021

Nominated by his teacher Bethany Gilson 

"Lucas moved from stage 2 to stage 3 this year. Whilst in stage 2 Lucas showed gritted determination to swim the length of the pool unaided until he was ready to move to the next stage. I have been continually impressed with Lucas' effort, he always attends with a positive attitude and is extremely well behaved throughout all sessions.

Since moving to stage 3, Lucas has given 100% with any and all that is asked of him and will happily give any skill or swim a go. Lucas is a very kind hearted and sweet character who is happy to help out at any point. I truly believe that Lucas deserves to have his efforts recognised and rewarded and hope that he is considered strongly for this award."
