Welcome to Kingfisher Leisure Centre

The Kingfisher Leisure Centre was closed in December 2019 due to urgent repair works. As Kingston Council looked more closely at the necessary repairs, it became clear that they were much more extensive than we initially thought. That’s why the council has taken the decision to use this opportunity to transform the old leisure centre building into a brand new, more sustainable, and fully accessible community leisure facility for Kingston residents to use and enjoy for generations to come.

In March and April this year, the council ran an early engagement exercise where we asked you to tell us what your priorities are for the Kingfisher site. You told us that replacing the much-loved swimming pool was your top priority. We know many people have really missed this valuable amenity. That’s why we are prioritising pushing forward with replacing the Kingfisher Leisure Centre with a new community leisure and cultural destination for everyone to enjoy, wherever they live in the borough, whatever their age, background or needs.
